"It's a RAINBOW Party"
Blog Hop
If you just came from ASHLEY'S blog. Your in the right spot. If not, you may want to start at the beginning of the hop by going here to Candace's blog.

We have some great prizes to give away from our generous sponsors!!

To be eligible for these prizes, please make sure you leave a comment (with a way to contact you) on each of the blogs in the hop before midnight (MST) on August 17th. Random winners will be chosen and announced early next week on the Scrappin’ 2 Little Princesses blog.”
  • Right now, I'd have to say, that Chevrons are in my top favorites. This cute little pattern (the black part of the card) is cut with my Cameo. It is a file that I found in the Silhouette Studio Store. It originally was a 12 x 12 pattern that I re-sized it to fit my 4 x 5 card.

The back ground "rainbow" portion of the card is a watercolor paper that I inked up with my Tim Holtz Distress Inks. I went in the color format of the "Roy G Biv" Theory. Which is : Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, & Violet. (I didn't use the Indigo color)

To get this technique you will need some water color paper, various Distress Inks, Non stick craft mat, & Water Bottle.

colors used: Barn Door, Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade, Mowed Lawn, Salty Ocean, Seedless Preserve.

    1. On my Non-Stick mat I took my Distress pad directly to the non stick mat. Adding strips of color. Red on top, then under that Orange, then under that the yellow.... so on and so forth until all the colors you want to use are on the mat.

    2. After you got all your ink colors added to the non stick mat- I then spritzed the ink with water. Lightly.

    3. Took my watercolor paper and laid it directly down onto the inked up mat. Pressing firmly smoothing the paper into the ink with my fingers so I can make sure that every area is covered and took my time going over and over it to make sure the watercolor paper is soaking up the ink.
    4. Now for the dry process. If you are in a hurry you can heat the watercolor paper with your heat gun to rush the drying phase.

    5. After your watercolor paper is dry and you want more of a distress look, you may add more water to the watercolor paper. Then do the drying process again.
Here is a close up view.

On the butterfly: I wanted my red butterflies to match the Barn Door red color and I knew I didn't have a paper that would match. So, I swooshed my red pad ink directly onto the white card stock then I punched out 2 butterflies.

Layer the butterflies on top of each other to give the dimension. I added a small rhinestone to the head of the butterfly. Then I added some Star Dust Stickles around the butterfly.

After I glued it down to the base of the card I picked up the wings so it looks like it is fluttering.

The sentiment I chose for this card is from a Pink by Design stamp set called Capture Life. I love this set!! It is one of the Stamp of the Month Stamps.

I used my corner chomper to go around the whole card so it matched my chevron shape.

If you have read this far.. Thank you! :)
